چکیده
The development of multi-drug-resistant bacteria pushed the scientific community to look for new alternatives solve problem. Propolis is a beehive substance and one richest natural products in bioactive compounds with antibacterial activity. This study was aimed investigate possible synergistic interaction between propolis drugs, such as essential oils (EOs) antibiotics, order find increased activity decreased concentrations. Two ethanol extracts were used test, which collected from north Morocco. chemical composition determined by UHPLC-MS. effect EOs antibiotics tested using checkerboard technique. analysis showed presence more that 100 extracts, belonging mainly flavonoids. combination other drugs different types interactions FIC index values varied 0.18 1, but no antagonist noticed. With FICI<0.5, obtained well antibiotics. These results indicate can be promising source molecules medical interest treat bacterial infection and/or increase action

Synergistic Effect between Cryptotanshinone and Antibiotics against Clinic Methicillin and Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Cryptotanshinone (CT), a major tanshinone of medicinal plant Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, demonstrated strong antibacterial activity against clinic isolated methicillin and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA and VRSA) in this experiment. The CT was determined against clinic isolated MRSA 1-16 with MIC and MBC values ranging from 4 to 32 and 8 to 128 μ g/mL; for MSSA 1-2 from 16 to ...
متن کاملSynergistic Effect between Fucoidan and Antibiotics against Clinic Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Fucoidan is a sulfated polysaccharide that is primarily extracted from brown seaweeds which has been broadly studied in recent years due to its numerous biological properties, including anticoagulant, antithrombotic, antitumor, and antiviral activities. In this study, fucoidan was evaluated against clinic isolated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) 1 20, either alone or with ant...
متن کاملTen Highly Effective Essential Oils Inhibit Growth of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (mrsa) and Methicillin Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus (mssa)
The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ten essential oils. The ten essential oils were tested on MRSA and MSSA from hospital patients using the disk diffusion (Kirby Bauer) method. Based on this study, all ten oils showed higher effectiveness inhibiting MRSA and MSSA growth than vancomycin, which is the currently used standard for treatment. Essential oils coul...
متن کاملSynergistic effects between silibinin and antibiotics on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated from clinical specimens.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a dangerous microorganism, and creates serious medical problems. It causes many types of infections in humans and often acquires multi-drug resistance. In this study, silibinin was evaluated against 20 clinical isolates of MRSA, either alone or in combination with ampicillin or oxacillin, using a checkerboard assay. The silibinin exhibited g...
متن کاملDissimilarity of ccrAB gene sequences between methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus among bovine isolates in Korea
The sequences of the ccrAB genes from bovine-, canine- and chicken-originating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (S.) epidermidis (MRSE) and bovine methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (S.) aureus (MRSA) were compared to investigate the frequency of intra-species horizontal transfer of the staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) complex. Nineteen MRSE strains were isolated from bovin...
